Scruba Dub Moe's in the Tub

Splish, Splash I gave Moe a bath.

I told y'all I would tell you my little dog's story so here it is (with her bath pictures in between because she's so adorable). Four years ago during the summer, my mom wanted to drive around and look at some houses in the downtown Nashville area.

MOE-fasa

While we were driving, we passed a fast food place called Fat Moe's and my mom went on and on about how they had the best chocolate milkshakes, so of course, we stopped to pick two up. While we sat in the car by the drive-thru window, I spot this little black dog trying to eat an old piece of pizza next to a busy street. I was so worried that she would get hit by a car and I could tell by her matted fur and how skinny she was that she was either a stray or she was lost from her owner.

Before my mom knew it, I was out of the car and got on my knees to call her over. I didn't want to go up to her because I didn't want to scare her into the street and I didn't know if she had rabies. She looked down at the pizza, then at me, then back at the pizza. I'm happy to say she chose me over the old piece of pizza. I scooped her up in my arms and got back into the car.

She was covered in fleas, but was the sweetest little dog. When we got home, it was straight to the tub for her, followed by eating some cooked rice and egg (rice is good for the dog's digestive system and we had no clue what she ate on the streets). I was already becoming attached to her and our other dog, well he just fell in love with her.

We went to the humane society to see if she was microchipped and put out the word that we had found a dog just in case she belonged to anyone. No one ever claimed her, so the rest is history. Her name Moe comes from the place where we found her, get it?

My other dog is from a breeder (and I love him to death), but I will stand by this, rescued dogs make great dogs. There is a different sense of loyalty and they just seem more grateful to you. So, if any of you are thinking about getting a dog or cat, try the humane society first. There are so many wonderful animals out there looking for homes and wanting to love on you. As the slogan goes, "don't shop, ADOPT!"

Have a great Wednesday!

  2. aww great message about rescue dogs! 100% agree. my family has a purebred great dane (his registered full name is Prince Baxter of Birnamwood... so uppity!), and although i love him to death, our dogs who we've rescued are my favorites. they just seem to have bigger personalities & express much more love :)
