I got an email this morning from the medical sales company and they want to set up a phone interview with me on Monday! Woohoo! I'm glad it's not anytime soon so I have time to mentally prepare. This is my first phone interview and I'm SO nervous.
Have any of you had a phone interview before? Any advice for me?
And as promised, my decorated graduation cap! I still need to put two more pearls at the top for the border, but other than that it's finished! Y'all are the first to see it besides my roommate!
I used Lilly Pulitzer wrapping paper in Bloomers that I glued on card stock to make it thicker, I got the pearl border at Hobby Lobby (they're half pearls that are sticky on the back and are in the scrapbook area), and I cut out the Sigma Kappa and my monogram from card stock that I glittered with Martha Stewarts Crystal Fine White Glitter.
You can find how to create your own monogram using Microsoft word by going to my Crafternoons page and clicking on monogrammed tag. I then printed the monogram on card stock, cut it out using scissors and an exacto knife, modge podged the glitter on and voila! I'm sure you could use color card stock or colored glitter to match your cap as well.
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and I feel like it suits me (LP, monogram, pearls, glitter, & sorority letters? SO me haha.)
Have a fabulous Friday!
xo,
eMr
So stinking cute! Love the Lilly and the pearls!
ReplyDeleteEeeeeee that's so exciting about the phone interview! I've never done one but you are going to do awesome! :] Such a cute idea decorating your cap!
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeletesooo, i do career counseling (not kidding) ... my best advice is to pretend that it's NOT a phone interview. still dress to impress... still smile the entire time you're on the phone ... and still be a little nervous. :) just pretend like you're in the same room with them.
ReplyDeleteyou will be so great!
Thank you so much! You're so sweet. That is great advice that I will most definitely use!
DeleteIm a business major at a university in Wisconsin. I also had a phone interview yesterday :) We have been told that phone interviews are probably the most difficult type, because you can't read those important non-verbal cues, like body language and facial expression. The advice our professors have given us is:
ReplyDelete1. Still dress in professional attire
2. PREPARE. Don't sound scripted, but have the company information in front of you as a reference.
3. And practice. With any interview, practice in front of a mirror so you know how you sound.
Hope this helps, it came from professionals :) Good luck!
Thank you Katie! About to start taking notes I can reference from on the company website now!
DeleteLove the cap, Emily!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteMake sure you are in a quiet location during the interview whether it's an empty house or even your car. Also make sure to research the company and make up practice questions they might ask you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Em!
So cute! I have thought about decorating my cap this week and this is a great idea! I think I will try to get some paper from Hob Lob to put on top and then figure out what to do from there. Thanks for this post! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHobby Lobby has a ton of great stuff to decorate your cap with! I could walk around that store for hours. Good Luck!
DeleteWhat a cute cap!
ReplyDeletestop it. your cap is so dang cute!! i'm picking up my cap & gown today. i'm so excited & so nervous at the same time. graduating is so bittersweet!
ReplyDeleteYour cap is to die for..I just love it! Congrats! I know this is such a bittersweet time, a lot of my friends are graduating. I know you'll be amazing whatever you do :)
ReplyDeletehow did you do the monogram? Did you have a machine do it? Buy it?
ReplyDeleteI actually downloaded a free font called monogram kk then printed it out on card stock and cut it out using scissors and an exacto knife. I then just used mod podge and glitter. If you go under my crafternoons page and look up the monogram tag I have a link to the site to download the font and show how to use it in word :) email me if you have any questions!
DeleteHi, I'm using the same monogram font for my grad cap but was wondering what font size you used for the smaller letters and larger letter? Thanks! It's adorable btw!
ReplyDeleteI used 300 for the side initials and 400 for the middle initial. Remember to put each separate letter in a text box so you can overlap them. I played around with the font size for a little bit to get it the way I wanted. Email me or comment if you have anymore questions :)
DeleteHi, your cap looks amazing! I really like the bloomers wrapping paper you used, but I can't find it anywhere! So, I was wondering where you got yours from? Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThere is actually a Hallmark store in Nashville that sells a lot of Lilly things and I purchased it there. I don't know if you'll still be able to find it since they change out their prints, but I would try Lifeguard Press and see if they carry it and if all else fails google Bloomers wrapping paper and see if you can find somewhere you can order it from. Good Luck!
DeleteWhat size font did you use in Microsoft Word?
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see Sigma Kappa represented on Pinterest! I'm a Sigma Kappa Alumni from CA. And a recruiter :). Hope your interviews went well!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea!! What would be the font size for Sigma Kappa?
ReplyDeleteI'm doing this for my graduation cap! This is so creative, Thank you!!
LOVE this idea and am planning on doing it for my grad cap! I was wondering about how tall was the monogram? I am going to buy a decal for mine, but am conflicted on the size!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use to adhere the cardstock to the cap?
What kind of font did you use for the Sigma Kappa letters? And what did you use to glue the wrapping paper to the cardstock? And to glue the cardstock to the cap?
ReplyDeletehow did you fit the paper around the circle for the tassel?
